From meeting with the team in RTE, they offered insights and metrics on previous events, allowing us to more accurately model up the likely profile of traffic and donations volume, before the event, during the event and post-event.
Working in conjunction with Stripe payments and Amazon AWS Technology, we built out the donations site to optimise the serverless technology solutions offered by AWS Lambda in conjunction with Stripe’s lightning fast processing capabilities.
We built out the solution and stress tested all of the main points on the user journey well in advance of the event itself, fine tuning and subsequent testing left us in a confident place coming up to the event.
We were delighted to achieve 100% uptime and see how well the system coped with the huge volumes, over the course of two hours the amount of donations through the site passed the €1.2 Million mark.
By the end of the weekend that had grown to €1.6 Million.
2021 – The actual Simon Busk project we ran again on Christmas Eve, this time it was an online concert streamed live from Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin. Once more the Granite team worked closely with the teams from Simon, AWS and Stripe. A successful event, with a longer tail, as the show was then available on YouTube. The donation profile was different with continued donations over the subsequent weeks as the video went viral.
2022 – This year we would hope to emulate the success of previous years, the granite team have always been happy giving up a a number of hours on the eve of Christmas for such a worthy cause.
We have a strong partnership with Dublin Simon and wider Simon Communities in Ireland. We maintain and support a number of the sites directly, including the overall simon website https://www.simon.ie, plus the Dublin https://www.dubsimon.ie and Dundalk https://dundalksimon.ie sites as well as supporting elements of their head office portal work.
